Keider Montero Throws a Gem as Tigers Rout Rockies, 11-0
Montero Shuts Down Rockies to Continue Tigers' Recent Success
Keider Montero delivered a dominant pitching performance as the Detroit Tigers blanked the Colorado Rockies 11-0. Montero scattered five hits and struck out eight batters over six shutout innings. The victory extended the Tigers' winning streak to three games.
Tigers' Offense Provides Plenty of Support
The Tigers' offense provided ample support for Montero. They scored two runs in the first inning on a single by Jeimer Candelario and a sacrifice fly from Javier Báez. They added four more in the second on a two-run double by Miguel Cabrera and a two-run homer by Akil Baddoo.
The Tigers tacked on three more in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk to Eric Haase, a sacrifice fly from Candelario, and an RBI single from Báez. They added their final two runs in the fifth on a solo homer by Candelario and a sacrifice fly from Baddoo.
Tigers Continue to Impress Under Hinch
The Tigers' victory is a testament to their recent resurgence under manager A.J. Hinch. After a difficult start to the season, the Tigers have now won nine of their last 13 games and are showing signs of improvement.
The Tigers will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The Cubs are currently in third place in the NL Central, but they have lost six of their last 10 games.
