Improved monitoring to contribute to sustainable development
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) recently approved a project to enhance the environmental monitoring capacity of Ben Tre and Hau Giang provinces.
The project, with a total investment of over VND 15 billion (USD 650,000), aims to improve the accuracy and reliability of environmental monitoring data in the two provinces.
The project will focus on several key areas, including:
- Upgrading and expanding the existing environmental monitoring network
- Strengthening the capacity of local environmental monitoring staff
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive environmental monitoring plan
The project is expected to be completed by 2025 and will contribute to the sustainable development of Ben Tre and Hau Giang provinces.
By improving the environmental monitoring capacity, the two provinces will be better able to identify and address environmental issues, such as air pollution, water pollution, and deforestation.
This will help to protect the health of the local population and the environment, and contribute to the overall sustainable development of the region.

Background
Ben Tre and Hau Giang are two provinces in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam.
The region is home to a number of important ecosystems, including the Mekong River Delta, which is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world.
However, the region is also facing a number of environmental challenges, such as air pollution, water pollution, and deforestation.
The MONRE project is designed to address these challenges by improving the ability of Ben Tre and Hau Giang provinces to monitor and manage their environmental resources.
