Manchester United approach Paris Saint-Germain over Manuel Ugarte
Barcelona also interested in transfer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder
Ugarte has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of months
Manchester United have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of months, with Manchester United and Barcelona both said to be interested.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have now agreed personal terms with Ugarte and are in talks with PSG over a fee.
PSG are believed to be demanding €70 million for the Uruguayan, but United are reportedly not willing to meet that asking price.
Ugarte is a defensive midfielder who has impressed for both Sporting Lisbon and the Uruguay national team.
He has made 16 appearances for Sporting Lisbon this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Ugarte would be a valuable addition to the Manchester United squad, providing competition for Scott McTominay and Fred.
However, it remains to be seen whether Manchester United are willing to meet PSG's asking price for the midfielder.
