Arsenal's Title Hopes Suffer Blow in Aston Villa Loss

Two Late Goals Boost Villa's Top Four Bid

15 Different Goalscorers for Arsenal in 2003-04 Season

Arsenal's hopes of winning the Premier League title suffered a major setback on Sunday as they were stunned 2-0 at home by Aston Villa. The visitors struck twice in the closing stages to secure a dramatic victory and boost their own chances of finishing in the top four.

Arsenal dominated the match for long periods but were unable to find a breakthrough. Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made several fine saves to keep his team in the game, and Arsenal were also denied by the woodwork on two occasions.

However, Villa took the lead against the run of play in the 77th minute when Ollie Watkins fired home from close range. Arsenal pushed for an equaliser, but they were caught on the break in the 90th minute and Bertrand Traore made it 2-0 with a clinical finish.

The defeat leaves Arsenal trailing leaders Manchester City by nine points, while Villa move up to ninth place and are now just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

In other news, Arsenal used a total of 34 players during the 2003-04 season, and there were 15 different goalscorers. There were also three squad members who did not make a first-team appearance that season.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from this defeat when they travel to Wolves in their next Premier League match on Sunday.
